Top 4 Things We Love About YYC

In its latest survey, The Economist rated Calgary, Vancouver and Toronto in the top 10 most liveable cities in the world. Calgary came in 4th, Vancouver 6th and Toronto 7th. The survey, aka. the Global Liveability Index, is published annually and looks at living conditions in 140 cities around the globe. The five factors the Index is based off of are stability, health care, culture and environment, education and infrastructure. Calgary earned perfect scores in all categories, except culture and environment, where it scored a 90.

While we knew Calgary was always an incredible city to live in, we’re happy the rest of the world thinks so too.

In celebration of our latest ranking, here are four things we love most about our city.

1) The Views

We mean, not to state the obvious – but come on – how lucky are we that the Rocky Mountains are in our backyard? Only about an hour drive away, we’re blessed with views that most people travel the world to come see. Our city views are just as great. Our top spots for people watching and enjoying the scenery include Prince’s Island Park, the top of the stairs in Crescent Heights, Central Memorial Park and St. James Island. Whether you’re taking a daytime walk or a midnight stroll, the views from these places never fail to disappoint.

2) The Food

Okay, we’re total foodies around here. It’s hard not to be when you live in a city with such an amazing food scene. We’re also proud partners of Mealshare, so dining out for a good cause is something we do often. Our favourite restaurants around YYC are Original Joe’s, Fiasco Gelato, Diner Deluxe and Una Pizza. Not yet on the Mealshare list, but also equally as good is Cannibale. Try the Jungle Bird cocktail or pretzel bites and thank us later.

3) The Community

Stop a Calgarian on the street and ask them to describe themselves. You’ll likely hear words like “entrepreneurial,” “fun” and “friendly” among the answers you get. We mean, remember the flood where the entire city joined forces to help strangers repair their homes? That was pretty friendly.

In Calgary, we have a want to help others and that results in an amazing and supportive community. We’ve seen so many of the city’s entrepreneurs help each other and we’d like to think our city is one of the most collaborative we’ve ever seen. At Mortgage 360, we truly believe in the notion of community. We want to build something that matters and that’s why we’ve built the Mortgage That Matters which gives back to amazing non-profit organizations in the community like Branch Out Neurological Foundation, Revv52, Inn From the Cold, AARCS and Kids Help Phone. We want to do good – it’s what gets us up in the mornings.

4) The People

Last, but certainly not least, we love the people in Calgary. We’ve had the opportunity to work with so many amazing, generous and kind humans and we couldn’t be luckier to help you turn your dreams of owning a home into a reality. From the phone calls, text messages, emails and reviews, we genuinely appreciate your support. We love what we do and a big part of that is because of our clients.

Calgary is amazing – there’s no doubt about that. We have so much more to say about the rich cultural diversity, the arts and culture scene and the local businesses we love. Contact us if you want to chat more, we’re always here for you.
